GSDA generally follows the school terms. Classes finish the first week of December. No classes are held on public holidays.

There are two timetables within the year. The first timetable is over terms 1, 2 and part of term 3. This is the exam/ showcase timetable. The timetable changes after exams have been completed in term three.

We then change to the concert timetable. These changes are generally minor. The reason the timetable changes is some classes are combined for the concert and to add in lead rehearsals.

We offer Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Contemporary, Tap, Acro, Musical Theatre, and Adult classes. If you are not sure which style of dance you are interested in, you are more than welcome to come and trial with us.

We have classes that start from 18 months old through to Adults.

All of our enrolments are done online. Simply click on the ‘enrol now’ button on our home page of the website and follow the steps or click here to enrol directly.

No, once you have enrolled for the calender year, this enrolment is valid throughout the year and you will automatically be enrolled into the next term. Term fees are due before it starts to ensure your place in the class isn’t lost and given to someone on the waitlist. We will email this out to you approx 4 weeks before the fee is due.

You do need to re-enrol each year as your dancer will most likely have moved to a different level and may also want to try other classes. Our timetable changes each year and you need to know the new class time.

Most of our classes are based on age and ability. Where possible we put you in a class with students of a similar age. We have ages on our timetable as a guide and then our teachers can also advise if this chosen level is a good level for your dancer.

Generally, you are welcome to start at any time throughout the year! If the class is just weeks out from participating in an exam or a concert dance, we will let you know when the best timet to join in, otherwise the teachers will bring your dancer up to speed if they have joined later in the term. After week 3 of the term, we will pro-rata the fee so you are paying for the weeks remaining of the term.

Term fees are due in full the day prior to the start of the term. If you are starting part way through, then the fee is due upon enrolment. We do have payment plans available. Contact the office for more details.

You can via online via your parent portal or our App. You can do internet banking (just remember to reference your child’s name and class). During reception hours we can do Eft, Credit Card or Cash.

Yes we do! We have 2 discount offers available. We have a sibling discount – this is applied automatically when you enrol.

We also have ‘combo’ deals available. These combos are based on the number of hours each student takes throughout the week, starting at 4 hours per student. Contact the office to see if you qualify for the combo and they can sort this out for you.

Yes, we offer trial classes that are obligation free!

If you are not sure which style of dance you are interested in, you are more than welcome to come and trial with us.

If your preferred class is full, then we are happy to add you to our wait list and when a space becomes available we will let you know. In the meantime we will try and find an alternative class for you.

This depends on what style the class is. If it is a syllabus class then we cap the class between 12-14 students.

If it is an open class, we will take up to 20 students.

Yes, we do offer payment plans – contact the office/reception for more information.

If you miss a class due to sickness or holiday, we are more than happy for you to attend any other age appropriate class that we offer. We do not offer any refunds.

If we cancel a class, then we will credit your account for the cost of that class. We don’t like to cancel classes and it is very rare that we need to do this.

We give as much notice as possible and will either try to do a make up class, or credit your account if we are unable to provide a make up class.

Yes, we offer exams in Ballet (RAD), Jazz (AJDA, NZAMD), Acro and Tap. Exams are generally held in Term 3.

A Syllabus class is a class that offers exams. This is our Ballet, Jazz, Acro and Tap classes. All students are highly encouraged to participate in the exams, although they are optional. The students work on exam syllabus during Term 1 and 2 and the exams are usually taken in Term 3.

An Open class is a class that does not sit any exams and their focus during Term 1 and 2 is to work towards a dance to perform in our mid year Showcase.

All classes (syllabus and open) in term 3 (after exams are finished) then move their focus toward our end of year Concert.

Our Open classes (Pre-school, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Contemporary) all get the opportunity to perform in our mid-year Showcase.

All classes (including Preschoolers) perform in our end of year Concert. Our end of year concert is generally held mid-November – Beginning of December. Contact the office for the exact dates for your preferred location.

Yes we do. Please contact the office for teacher availability and costs.

Our mid-year showcase for our open classes do not have any rehearsals and generally perform 2 shows in one day.

Our End of year concert has some Saturday rehearsals at the studio in the lead up to the concert and dress and tech rehearsals once we move into the theatre. These dates and times are emailed out closer to the time.

All our shows involve a performance fee. This covers uniform hire, time in the theatre, extra rehearsals for the end of year show and so on.

Tickets are also sold to view the show.
